At 14:18 January 15th, after 233 days and nights of hard working, as the last truss of the steel triangle on the 18th level is in place, the World’s First Million-Unit Steel-Structure Cooling Tower—The Guodian Shuangwei Power Plant Newly Built Project #1 Steel Structure Cooling Tower Main Structure was completed.

(Employer), Han Weidong, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Chengxin Engineering Construction Supervision Co., Ltd. (Supervision Unit), Yi Fuyue, Project Manager of Guodian Longyuan Power Technology Engineering Co., Ltd. (General Contractor), Liu Guoyin, Vice President of Shuangliang Energy Saving System Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Air Cooling Division, Wang Yong, General Manager Assistant of Henan D.R. Steel Structure Co., Ltd., Xu Anming, Manager of Industrial Equipment Engineering Branch, etc. all went to the site to celebrate the completion of the main structure.
The Guodian Shuangwei Power Plant Steel Structure Cooling Tower Project is the second steel structure cooling tower undertaken by Henan D.R. Steel Structure Co., Ltd.. It is the highest and largest steel structure inter-cooling tower project in the world's air-cooling field with a body height of 190.2m and a zero-plate tower body diameter of 148.7m. At the same time, the project is also the country's first smart thermal power plant based on energy big data, the first power plant among millions of units in the world to use steel-structured cooling towers, and the country's first 4×1000MW ultra-supercritical air-cooling thermal power unit.
Since the start of the project, leaders at all levels of Henan D.R. have attached great importance to the construction of the project. They have organized relevant departments to conduct in-depth on-site inspections and held special planning meetings to sort out the major and difficult points in the construction. They have given a lot of practical instructions for the whole process of the project. On-site project management personnel and front-line construction teams fully carried forward the "iron army" spirit and gave full play to the technical advantage of brand in the field of electric power construction. They have managed to overcome numerous difficulties like the bad weather in the northwest, the COVID-2019 pandemic, and the inconvenience of construction in winter. Under the guidance of the work style of “High Standard and Efficiency”, the steel structure cooling tower was completed within seven months, which shows Henan D.R.’s ability in contract fulfillment and a spirit of dedication.
During the construction process, the project team has strictly complied with the working procedure. In order to ensure the welding quality, a combination of 100% ultrasonic and magnetic powder for the weld seam is used to detect the flaw. The team also optimized and adjusted the lifting working process and strictly controlled the installation dimension deviation to ensure that the project can be put into production in a good condition. The owner, supervisor, and general contractor highly praised the quality of the steel structure air cooling tower, and spoke highly of the refined management, technology innovation and application, and high standard implementation of safe and civilized construction during the construction process.
At the same time, from the fist hoisting to the completion of the main structure, it only took seven and a half months for the project #1 steel structure tower, which has not broken the record of construction speed of the same type of steel structure tower, but also won a lot of prizes: "The Steel Structure Air Cooling Tower Construction Key Technology" won the "Special Prize for Henan Construction Scientific and Technological Achievements ", and the "Second Prize for Construction Scientific and Technological Progress" issued by China Construction Enterprise Management Association; "Improving the Dimensional Accuracy of the Steel Triangle of the Cone Section of the Steel Structure Cooling Tower" won the "2020 First Class Achievement of the Power Construction Quality Management Team Activities" by the China Electric Power Construction Enterprise Association; "BIM Technology Application of Steel Structure Cooling Tower" won the "2020 First Prize of the First National Steel Structure Industry Digital Building and BIM Application".
Next, the project management team will continue to give full play to Henan D.R.’s technological brand and strictly implement the management concept of "planning in advance and pre-control ahead of time" to lay a solid foundation for the project to further win the "National Excellence Gold Award" and "Steel Structure Gold Award".
