Despite the continuous autumn rain, the competitive spirit remained unshaken as the final whistle blew on the afternoon of September 28, and the ultimate showdown of the 4th “Endeavour Cup” Men’s Basketball Tournament of the Group Company came to a splendid close to cheers. Leaders of the Group Company including Huang Daoyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhu Jianming, Board Chairman, and Jia Xiangjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union, attended the closing ceremony. Lou Meiyue, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Labor Union of the Group Company, presided over the ceremony.
This year’s “Endeavour Cup” Men’s Basketball Tournament featured six days of fierce competition with nine representative teams competing on the court. They demonstrated the competitive spirit of “Competing Under the Hoop, Surpassing Oneself” and conveyed the team spirit of “Uniting Strength on the Court, Winning the Future Together”, jointly presenting a high-level basketball feast. The tournament received great attention and strong support from the Group Company’s leadership. During the competition, Secretary of the Party Committee Huang Daoyuan and other leaders came to watch the games for many times and cheered for the participating teams, reflecting the Group Company’s profound care for employees’ cultural and sports life and the construction of corporate culture.
At 3:00 p.m., the third-place playoff kicked off between the Construction Industrial Park United Team and the Fifth United Team. Making their first appearance in the finals, the Fifth United Team played bravely and took the lead at the start, constantly putting pressure on the Industrial Park United Team, the third-place winner of the last tournament. The Industrial Park United Team leveraged its strengths and avoided weaknesses with a fast-paced offense and defense transition, regaining the lead. At the end of the game, the Construction Industrial Park United Team defeated the Fifth United Team 35-30 to claim the third place.
Shortly after, the championship final was held between the Group Company’s Headoffice Team and the Sixth United Team. The Sixth United Team was in hot form and built an advantage with two accurate three-pointers right at the beginning. Faced with the strong start, the Headoffice Team responded calmly, gradually narrowing the point gap with tacit cooperation and incisive offensive moves, and successfully turned the tables! The two sides traded blows in the intense seesaw battle, and the Group Company’s Headoffice Team locked in the victory with a score of 34-27 by virtue of its superior overall strength, winning the championship of this tournament and achieving a three-peat!
At the closing ceremony, the participating teams and the referee team marched onto the court in turn. The host announced the competition results: the Group Company’s Headoffice Team won the championship, the Sixth United Team the second place, the Construction Industrial Park United Team the third place, and the Fifth United Team the Merit Award. The Second Project Management Department, the United Team of Engineering Design Branch and Construction Foundation Branch, the United Team of Installation Branch and The Ninth Branch, the Huaneng Power Project Engineering Department, and the Fourth United Team were awarded the Organization Award. Upon recommendation by each representative team and comprehensive evaluation by the referee committee, Wang Haonan from the Huaneng Power Project Engineering Department, Zhu Xiaoda from the Fifth United Team, Zhao Xiaonan from The Second Project Management Department, Jin Luzheng from the Construction Industrial Park United Team, Deng Jiuzhou from the Sixth United Team, and Yan Qikaixuan from the Group Company’s Headoffice Team were awarded the Most Valuable Player Award. The attending leaders presented awards to the winning teams and individuals.
As the tournament draws to a close, the journey of striving continues.
